When you have a face full of pimples, it is a difficult situation, especially if you are a teenager! The body is fighting an important hormonal battle and the skin is a faithful witness to this fact. What is acne?

Cystic acne is characterized by nodules and sebaceous cysts, which can be hard and painful. During this period, a person can present different types of lesions, from minor to severe.

Acne appears more commonly on the face in areas like: forehead, cheeks and chin. It also spans areas like the back, shoulders and pre-sternal regions. And it also includes seborrhea (Excessively oily skin) areas of the body.

How to care for your skin

If you have minor to moderate acne, here are some homemade tips to improve your skin:

Hot water compress. This softens the pimples, making extraction much easier.

Wash your face at least twice per day. Do not use abrasive soap or scrub your skin. You can use a soft brand name exfoliate or PH neutral soap. You should do this soon as you get up in the morning, when you sleep at night and after any physical activity.

Say no to your fingers! Try not to touch your skin to squeeze the pimple. Why? Because after a while your face will have lots of spots and scars.

Control your makeup. You should only use non-oil based makeup to keep your pores free and clear. Remember to remove your makeup at night!

Watch your hair! Especially if your locks are greasy, you need to wash it daily and keep it away from your face. For example: Bangs make acne worse especially when it falls over your forehead. Tip: Do not wear headbands or tight hats.

You can also use over the counter topic creams which tend to balance the PH of the skin without drying it out. It also improves the aspect of the acne if used adequately.
